An uproar caused by sexual abuse has emerged at an Islamic institution of learning in Indonesia. In this case, the abuser is called Kiai Ashari, a man aged 58 years and who serves as the caretaker at Ndholo Kusumo institution. Apparently, he had been on the run from the police following charges of sexually abusing 30-50 girls, who belong to poor families. The case portrays the problem of sexual abuse cases in institutions of learning, where the perpetrators exploit their mysticism as school leaders.
